So you want to get in the sport of triathlon, but don’t know where to start? Are you looking for a triathlon training schedules? First we need to make sure that what you have is an accurate idea about the sport. A triathlon is a multi-sport event involving the completion of three continuous and sequential endurance events.  While many variations of the sport exist, triathlon, in its most popular form, involves swimmingcycling, and running in immediate succession over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall course completion time, including timed “transitions” between the individual swim, bike, and run components. Before signing to any triathlon races you should have gone through a triathlon training schedules.

Today we will present you a 16 week sprint program.

Times per week

Triathlon training schedules like this assumes that you can already consistently do the following: 20min Swim | 40min Bike | 20min Run. Balanced sports have a short and long training day. ‘Focused’ Programs will add another day to help you focus on your weak discipline OR just to do another day in the sport that you like assuming your ok in the others. 3x has each a short, medium and long training session.

A typical sprint triathlon consists of these distances for the disciplines: 0.5mile swim, 12mile bike, 3mile run).

By the end of this triathlon training schedule, you will be able to:

  • Swim 750 yards without stopping
  • Bike 12 miles without stopping
  • Run a 5k without stopping
  • And do them all on the same day!

A triathlon takes a lot of dedication and passion. As one can see with the triathlon training schedules alone that is needed to at least be competitive with this race, it takes a lot of hour. Hours that is usually spent doing work, playing with the kids, hanging out with friends or doing whatever hobby one might prefer. Family and friends are a big factor is success is to be aimed at with this sport, because the time it takes away from them is not a laughing matter. If any part of a trainee’s social life is not willing to give up the time needed for the training, a great conflict will definitely affect a person’s performance.

Running is usually considered the strength of most beginners. One can use this as an advantage to build up one’s endurance. Hesitance frequently arises with the other two disciplines which are biking and especially swimming. Once you are up to the peak of your physical ability, such hesitance just melts away. Your training for triathlon must induce fatigue. If you are never tired or challenged by your sessions you are not training, you are merely exercising. Following triathlon training schedules like this, gives an aspiring person an edge into becoming an endurance athlete.
